New TLDs are the new domain extensions (whatever appears at the right of the dot in a domain name) that have been proposed by organizations and companies worldwide.  They are intended to expand the number of the already approved gTLDs, such as .com, .net and .org.  New gTLDs have not been approved yet neither are they active.  They are merely applications for consideration by ICANN.
