This domain name scam is meant to lure people and make them believe that a potential buyer is willing to pay good money for a domain name you own. The scammer asks the domain owner to order an appraisal from a short list of sources that he/she would approve for evaluating the market price of the domain name. The least costly appraisal is through a website owned and operated by the scammer. People too excited in this offer go forward and purchase an appraisal from that site, thus, benefiting the scammer. The scammer then sends the domain owner an appraisal from his “Domain Appraisal Website” and obviously ignores the domain name sale with the owner.
